Carnival is a Christian festive season that is celebrated in various forms throughout many parts of the world. In the Netherlands, the celebrations mainly take place in the Dutch provinces of North Brabant and Limburg. This includes the city of Roermond, where a stage was built in the main square outside the train station for this year's event. Demo Productions added spectacular lighting by Showtec and Infinity, so that everyone who attended could see the many performances.
With up to 18,000 revellers in fancy dress attending, carnival in Roermond (known as Vastelaovend in Remunj) is a major event on the annual calendar. Alongside drinking and eating, music plays a major role with crowds singing along and dancing to local artists like Danny Pouwels, W-Dreej, De Toddezek, Pruuf Mar and many more. With more than 20 years of experience under their belt, Demo Productions were called in to add spectacular lighting to the stage and ensure that all of the performances could be seen by adding large LED screens on either side. They used a total of 24 Showtec Helix S5000 Q4 LED washers to add plenty of colour and stunning effect possibilities with 24 Showtec DWE Audience Blinder Sets and 8 Showtec Stage Blinders adding impressive blinder effects. The versatile Infinity iW-1915 Pixel was also used with 16 of them providing the possibility of fast-moving beam effects or wash lighting.
As the images show, carnival is a full-on party that is loved by many and something not to be missed.
